About Anaheim First Christian Church

Mission Statement

Anaheim First Christian Church exists to bring glory to God. We desire to demonstrate Jesus’ love and teachings by leading people to a growing relationship with Him and by building caring relationships among people of all ages and cultures, locally and world-wide. We will seek to accomplish this by:

  • Preaching and teaching the Bible as God’s truth for daily living
  • Eagerly presenting God’s plan of salvation
  • Promoting the spread of God’s message throughout the world
  • Equipping Christians to understand and use the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit
  • Helping bring people to maturity in Christian living as they express their faith in service to others
  • Promoting disciplines of Christian living, among which are prayer, worship, Bible reading, purity, and stewardship
  • Continually developing ministries focused on specific needs

These will be accomplished in a spirit of love and respect for all people.

Our Aim

Because of Jesus we are…Connected to God, Committed to His Church and Compassionate to All.

Our Composition

We are a multi-ethnic, multi-generational congregation that reflects and affects our local community and the larger regional area of North Orange County.  Although separate adult services and Bible studies are held in English and Spanish, we are, nevertheless, one church in structure and purpose.  Since all of our children attend English speaking schools, all church programing for children (birth – High School) is in English.

Our Structure

We are a part of a non-denominational group of churches generally known as Christian Churches/Churches of Christ. We have no regional or national headquarters. We are not required to pay dues or support denominationally selected para-church organizations or missionaries. We prefer to think that we are united in a common purpose but not a common government with other congregations. We are autonomous and consider Scripture as our primary authority.

We do select elders and ministry team leaders to provide structure and accountability as we carry out the work of the church. On a strictly voluntary basis, we support and are affiliated with several stateside Christian ministries and international missions organizations.

Baptism, Communion & Spiritual Gifts

We practice adult baptism by immersion. As a congregation that seeks to pattern itself after the Church described in the Book of Acts, we believe that baptism is important because it follows the example of Christ, because He commanded it, and because every conversion in the Book of Acts included immersion.

The Lord’s Supper is observed at every Sunday service at AFCC. We consider it the focal point of our corporate worship because we meet to remember His sacrifice for us and to “proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes” 1 Corinthians 11:26.

We believe that upon conversion, every Christian receives the gift of the Holy Spirit – meaning that the Holy Spirit is actively involved in their life. While we believe that the “Gifts of the Spirit,” as noted in Scripture, are manifested in the Church today, we do not emphasize their use in personal worship (we would not be considered a “charismatic” church). We believe that the “Gifts of the Spirit” are given to us for the equipping and maturing of the Body of Christ and that the greatest gift we receive, as described in 1 Corinthians 13, is love.

Music and Worship

Our goal is to find as many ways as possible to facilitate as many people as possible in the articulation of their faith and experience, to the glory of God and the building of one church. To achieve that goal, we will use as many types of media as we can successfully employ to enhance congregational participation. By intent, no one style or tradition shall define us.
